Our COVID-19 Tests & Treatments Offered in Georgia

How long is COVID contagious?
Most people with COVID-19 are contagious for 5 to 10 days after symptoms begin. You’re usually most infectious in the first few days, even if your symptoms are mild. The Georgia Department of Public Health recommends the following timeline:
- Day 0: First day of symptoms (or the day of your positive test if you don’t have symptoms)
- Days 1–5: Stay home and isolate from others
- Day 6–10: You can end isolation if symptoms are improving and you’ve had no fever for 24 hours, but you should wear a high-quality mask around others
- After Day 10: Most people are no longer contagious and can resume normal activities without a mask.
If you’re still feeling sick after day five or have a fever, it’s safest to keep isolating. AllCare Primary & Immediate Care providers can help you figure out when it’s okay to return to work, school, or travel.
How Long Does COVID Testing Take?
The total time for COVID testing depends on the type of test you receive and the location of the clinic, but at AllCare Primary & Immediate Care, we aim to make the process as fast and convenient as possible.
- Rapid Antigen Test: The test itself only takes a few minutes, and results are ready in 15–30 minutes. This is a great option if you need quick results for work, school, or peace of mind.
- PCR Test: PCR samples are sent to a lab for processing, and results usually come back within 24–72 hours. Turnaround times may vary slightly based on demand and lab capacity in Georgia.
Most visits, including check-in and testing, take less than 30 minutes, especially at our walk-in clinics in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Smyrna, and other areas across Georgia. You’ll receive instructions on how and when to access your results, and our team will follow up if treatment or isolation is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do you need a COVID test?
You should consider getting a COVID-19 test if you’re experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, or loss of taste and smell. It’s also important to test if you’ve had close contact with someone who tested positive, or if you’re planning to travel, attend a large gathering, or visit someone who’s high-risk (like an older adult or someone with a weakened immune system).
In Georgia, many workplaces, schools, and travel destinations may still require testing for clearance. If you’re unsure, our providers at AllCare Primary & Immediate Care can help you decide when testing is appropriate.
Where can I get a COVID test in Georgia?
COVID-19 testing is available at all AllCare Primary & Immediate Care locations, including clinics in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Smyrna, and other nearby areas. We offer both PCR and rapid antigen tests, and testing is available 7 days a week at most locations.
You don’t need a referral, and most tests can be done during a quick walk-in visit. Use our location finder to get directions to the clinic nearest you.
Do I need an appointment to get tested for COVID?
No appointment is necessary, but it’s available if you’d like to reserve a specific time. AllCare Primary & Immediate Care offers walk-in COVID-19 testing at all of our urgent care clinics. This flexibility makes it easier for busy families, travelers, or people feeling sick to get tested on their own schedule.
If you’d prefer a shorter wait time, we recommend using our online scheduling system to check availability at your nearest location.
What’s the difference between rapid and PCR testing?
Both tests detect active COVID-19 infections, but they differ in accuracy and processing time:
Rapid (Antigen) Test
- Results in 15–30 minutes
- Ideal for quick screenings, work/school clearance, or events
- Slightly less accurate, especially in asymptomatic individuals
PCR Test
- Lab-processed, with results typically in 1–3 days
- More sensitive and accurate, especially for early infection
- Often required for travel, surgeries, or official documentation
Our AllCare Primary & Immediate Care providers can recommend the right test based on your situation.
Is the COVID test covered by insurance?
In most cases, yes. Many health insurance plans in Georgia cover the cost of COVID testing, especially if it’s ordered due to symptoms, exposure, or medical necessity.
AllCare Primary & Immediate Care accepts most major insurance providers and will check your benefits at the time of your visit. If you don’t have insurance, we also offer affordable self-pay pricing for both rapid and PCR tests so that cost isn’t a barrier to care.
