AllCare’s Dr. Sylvia Akenji Makes Encore Appearance on “The Weekly Check-Up” Healthcare Talk Show on WSB Radio

Dr. Sylvia Akenji, a primary care physician and medical director with AllCare Primary Care and Immediate Care Georgia, made an encore appearance on the August 10 episode of “The Weekly Check-Up,” a one-hour healthcare talk show, on 95.5 WSB Atlanta’s News & Talk.
The show’s host, Dr. Bruce Feinberg, discussed the current crisis of primary care in our country. While primary care should account for 50% of all providers in America, according to Dr. Feinberg, they currently only represent approximately 24%.
However, new primary care models like AllCare are emerging to meet that need. She explained how AllCare provides comprehensive and accessible primary care and immediate care services through in-office and online virtual care options. This includes urgent care for non-life threatening ailments, minor illnesses, and injuries, such as respiratory infections and medical situations requiring quick attention. Additionally, the practice delivers the full breadth of primary care services. This hybrid approach, she said, encourages repeat patient visits and establishing a primary care physician.
“At least 40% of my patients who initially came in for urgent care are now my regular primary care patients,” Dr. Akenji explained.
Dr. Akenji discussed a variety of other topics, including what led her to a career in medicine, how she found herself working with AllCare, and other benefits of providing the primary and immediate care hybrid model.
