Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Helen Ngigi brings over 28 years of experience in healthcare and a global perspective to her practice. She began her nursing journey at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, where she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing, before completing her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Dr. Ngigi later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Ngigi has worked across public health, family medicine, and inpatient rehabilitation care, in addition to serving as a registered nurse on medical-surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and sub-acute units. Her experience as both a provider and caregiver has shaped her empathetic, patient-centered approach to medicine. She believes that every person deserves access to compassionate, high-quality care regardless of background, culture, or circumstance.
Outside of work, Dr. Ngigi enjoys spending time with her family, reading historical books, traveling, and hiking in nature. She is married to her husband of 21 years and is the proud mother of two university-aged children who continue to inspire her every day.
