Dr. Sylvia Akenji of AllCare Appears as Featured Guest on “The Weekly Check-Up” Radio Show

AllCare’s Dr. Sylvia Akenji appeared on “The Weekly Check-Up” on October 12 to inform listeners about the importance of having a primary care physician. The show airs Sundays at 3 p.m. on 95.5 FM WSB Radio.

She and the show’s host Dr. Bruce Feinberg discussed AllCare’s unique model that aims to make establishing a primary care physician more convenient for patients of all ages. Currently only 24 percent of physicians are PCPs though the. number should likely be double that to address the population’s need.

Dr. Akenji said that she often sees patients who come infor immediate care and are found to have a chronic problem and are now a recurring patient; as well as patients who cannot take off work during the week and need to see a doctor on the weekend.

Dr. Akenji also discussed the importance of getting a flu shot as we enter flu season.
